It has been three years since I “officially” joined the world of ttrpg actual play producers. Three amazing years since I dropped the first two episodes of Aboard the Opal Star.

It all started over lunch when my friend Casey told me about a theater rehearsal where she and some friends played a one-shot of something resembling D&D using Yahtzee dice.

That sparked a conversation. Then we met up with Alexis, who was also part of that game, and the conversation continued.

By the end of the day, we had a rough game plan for an actual play campaign featuring a group of female space pirates. Because who doesn’t need more female space pirates in their life?

It was originally going to be a Starfinder game with a rotating DM.

Then I discovered Esper Genesis, and as I read, I got an idea. So I pitched it to my friends and offered to take the first campaign.

Three years later, we are nearing what could be the halfway point in the story. Much has been discovered. Much has changed.

We have had two players step away from the table due to scheduling reasons (their seats remain if they ever chose to return), and one new friend who remains.

I have learned a lot about how to be a better DM, producer, and storyteller. Not to mention finding a new appreciation for project managers.

This story is still ongoing and will likely continue for a few more years before we reach the ending. After that, I am not sure. I have plenty of time to decide between now and then, and a handful of other projects to keep me busy.
